Sedation Dentistry in St George, UT
Whether you’re anxious, need a longer procedure, or simply want extra comfort, our sedation options help you relax—so dental care feels easy and stress‑free.
What Is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry uses safe, controlled methods to help you relax during treatment. At Dahle Family Dental, we offer:
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
A fast‑acting, inhaled gas that takes the edge off anxiety. You’ll remain fully conscious, and effects wear off quickly—perfect for just taking the edge off or short procedures.
Oral Conscious Sedation (Pill‑Based)
A prescription sedative you take before your appointment. It helps you drift into a very relaxed state while remaining responsive. Ideal for longer procedures or patients with dental fear. (Must have a driver and consultation. Not available for same day treatment)
Both options are administered by trained professionals, and we carefully monitor you for comfort and safety throughout your visit.

Common Questions About Sedation Dentistry
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Absolutely. We use proven, controlled doses of nitrous oxide or oral medication under strict monitoring to ensure your safety and comfort throughout.
Will I be unconscious with sedation?
With nitrous oxide, you remain awake and responsive. Oral conscious sedation makes you very relaxed but still able to respond. We never put you under general anesthesia.
How long do the effects last?
Nitrous oxide effects wear off in minutes once you stop inhaling. Oral sedation may leave you groggy for several hours—plan for a ride home and some rest.
Can children use sedation dentistry?
Nitrous oxide is commonly used for children to ease anxiety. We do not offer oral sedation for minors in our office. We’ll discuss what’s appropriate for your child.
Do I need to fast before sedation?
For oral sedation, we usually recommend no food or drink for at least 6 hours beforehand. We’ll give you specific instructions when you book your appointment.
